The Dream 5 by AEvilMike The Dream 5 by AEvilMike
A Steampunk inspired sculpture, The dream is a statement on corporate life. In the eye-lens is a backlit image of a cubicle farm, in the brain window on the side is another backlit image of a sunny beach with palm trees representing the dream that cannot be taken away by corporate greed. A solder tear hangs from the eye-lens.

Bravo! Very nice. I'll look for over views. What is its scale? Full sized human skull?

Yeah, it's full size.. the piece stands about 20 inches tall The copper plate on those pieces is just shy of 1/4".. I picked up an 18"x18" sheet of it at a surplus store a couple years ago for 50 bucks.. a real find considering it would have cost me over 300 bucks these days, copper and brass are through the roof! I keep hoping the prices will fall, but it doesn't seem to be coming any time soon...

Thanks!

That's funny! As I glanced down the pipes I saw that piece and my jaw dropped! Yea $300 sounds about right. Sucks when you want to use it for your art. Of course the base brings the whole thing together for artistic value and stability, just hurts my heart to think you would have to pay $300 to do it!

I'd use steel but it really causes me grief as most of my tools aren't adapted for it, the differential heating is tough on the soldier, and the long term rust issues when associated with brass suck.

Yeah steel is a whole 'nother world. I'll stick to the expensive soft metals that don't rust ;-). I find that if I scour ebay on a regular basis I can pick up plate copper at a much reduced price from folks who either have no idea, or just need to get rid of a piece they've had laying around.

Yea I do the same for watch pieces! Finally figured out the cheapest way to buy brass is to purchase roofing shim in bulk!
